Under the expert guidance of a Master Perfumer, we have the unique opportunity to discover a wide range of natural raw materials and learn the secrets of the craft known as the “Nose”. We learn how to work with rare essences, how to recognise subtle olfactory nuances and, above all, how to translate an inspiration or a memory into a balanced liquid composition. Together with the Master, we experience a path that combines theoretical knowledge and creative practice, and we take home the exclusive fragrance we have composed with our own hands.
The workshop is divided into two distinct yet complementary moments. In the theoretical part, we explore the rich history of perfumery in Florence, reconstructing the centuries-old connections between the city and the raw materials that inspired perfumers through time. We learn about the geographical and botanical origins of essences, as well as extraction techniques, from traditional methods to modern technologies. This knowledge gives us the tools to understand fragrances and raw materials with new awareness before entering the creative phase.
In the practical part, we move directly into the heart of the experience. We watch live demonstrations by the Master Perfumer on the fundamental gestures of the craft - from using the mouillette to precise dosing - and begin to develop our personal formula. With calm and attention, we explore the selection of raw materials available to us: we test them on skin and paper, compare them and learn the art of balancing top notes, heart notes and persistent base notes. The experience is inclusive, stimulating and highly personalised: we can create either a personal perfume to wear on the skin or a home fragrance designed to give our spaces a distinctive olfactory character. In both cases, we follow every phase of design and composition, mix the essences, record the proportions and finally obtain our sealed elixir to take home.
The experience does not end inside the workshop. We continue with an external guided route that explores the history of perfume in Florence through the streets of the city. We follow the thread of traditions that made Florence a reference point for essences, connecting ancient alchemical practices with contemporary excellence. Finally, we visit some of the city's historic pharmacies, magical places that for centuries preserved secret recipes, rare raw materials and ancient tools linked to body care and the art of fragrance. These stops place the workshop experience within a broader cultural context, revealing the ties between olfactory aesthetics, pharmaceutical traditions and the city's historical memory.
The total duration of this activity is three hours, with departure scheduled at 10:00. The format is ideal for the whole family: the technical difficulty is carefully adapted so that participants of different ages can understand the basic concepts of olfactory chemistry and enjoy the creative process without frustration. No special dress code is required; comfortable clothing is enough, together with curiosity and an open mind.
By choosing this experience, we not only learn artisan techniques and historical notions, but also enjoy a true moment of shared creativity. We discover the almost meditative concentration needed to build a balanced fragrance and, at the same time, the surprise of seeing how small changes in a composition can radically transform the final perception of a perfume. We take home not only the bottle we have created, but also the memory of a path that combines history, technique and sensory pleasure.
This creation experience is designed for those who want to approach, with hands and nose, a fascinating world that often remains behind the scenes. For a few hours, we become apprentice perfumers, work with real natural essences, learn directly from the Master and allow ourselves to be guided through a creative process that is both artisan and deeply cultural. It is a special gift for ourselves or an original and refined present for someone who appreciates detail, the elegance of the invisible and the intensity of a sensory experience rooted in Florentine tradition.
